SO! As some might be aware I have gotten a new laptop, to replace my old clunky tank of a Dell 610. The dell still works just not well so this is a first for me. Replacing my computer with another computer while the first is in nearly perfect working order.
But, it was still a good choice, I love this machine and Windows 7 isn't annoying me as much as I thought it would. I'm shocked by this turn of events too.
Now, my new laptop (named OrbisPictus in honor of Ayase Yue's artifact in Negima, I would have left the full name in but that got a bit long... anyway, it's an Acer Timeline 1410 (in black, and obviously its Windows 7 not Vista). A tine little wide screen top of the line nearly new laptop. It isn't actually new as the 1410 was discontinued for a new TimelineX line of... mostly the same but slightly better and more expensive form of this one.
This is phase one in my plan to return to school (probably next fall, using this spring to get work). As I slowly gather the tools I feel I'll need to be able to manage in school. The first, and most prominent being a slim portable laptop that's easy to carry and slip into a backpack. Next is a new backpack, and the standard fare of school supplies. The backpack I should get before the end of this UPS peak season. So wish me luck on my cunning long term planning of stuff!
Now then, on work. I was surprised to start work so early in November, but it's a good surprise... except I've managed to injure my ankle already. Usually I go a full season and I'm just sore. I think I've been pushing myself a bit hard with the hour walk to and from work every day. I should probably figure out the bus route and do that instead. It killed my cleaning plans this weekend slightly. I can still manage but I can't do any heavy lifting (and there's some furniture I need to get rid of).
Hopefully if I take it easy and switch what bag I carry stuff to work in my ankle will be fine for next week.
